I have been facilitating vision board workshops every January since 2017. I was considering skipping doing them this coming January because, quite frankly, 2020 has been rough for me like it has for so many people. However, I got too many requests that I couldn’t pass on the opportunities to lead these workshops that I love!
Because of the pandemic and the need to remain socially distant for the time being, I have been running vision board workshops online this year. I will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. And actually, perhaps I will always offer such an option so that people outside of the local area can attend.
Attendees at my in-person workshops get to create a vision board during the workshop, but for the sake of brevity and ease during the online workshops I have decided to have attendees create a vision board on their own in advance.
This blog post contains information that I feel is helpful for such attendees but can also be of use to anyone else who might be interested in creating a digital vision board.
Tips to keep in mind
I recommend reading an older article I wrote about how to create a traditional vision board, as it includes tips to keep in mind to help increase your chances of achieving your goals.
How to create a digital vision board
The image at the top of this article is a digital vision board I created as an example. It is a simplified version that includes the following:
- Images that represent the growth, connection, and contribution that I desire (which you will see in the above article are helpful aspects of goals to focus on)
- A phrase that I can tell myself to keep me motivated while on the path to my goals
- An affirmation that represents how I want to feel
You can make such a simplified version if desired, or you can include more goals and more specific goals.
I recommend using a website such as Canva, which has an option for a free account that suffices just fine for this purpose. I did the following when creating a board through Canva:
- Used the “create a design” tab in the upper right corner and selected “flyer” (you can probably choose another layout/size that would work as well, so feel free to experiment)
- Selected the “background” tab on the left side to choose a background color/pattern
- Used the “photos” tab on the left side to choose images that represent my goals and dragged them to where I wanted them on the board (you can use words to search for desired images, such as “house”, “exercise”, “healthy food”, “books”, etc.)
- Selected the “text” tab on the left side to choose words I wanted on my board that represent my goals and dragged them to where I wanted them on the board
Some other sites that are options to create a vision board on:
- Google’s Jamboard
- DreamItAlive
- TheBigDream Board (costs money)
Attend a vision board workshop
If you’re interested in attending one of my upcoming workshops, check the dates on the vision board workshops page. Now that the workshops will be online, people can attend from anywhere in the world!
Now that the board making aspect has been removed from the online version of the workshops, the dramatic elements are the focus. I have received feedback that these activities are just as powerful as they have been during in-person workshops.
Please consider attending if you would like help with actively pursuing your goals in 2021.
